EXSPERSSIONISM – PART OF AESTHETIC MODERNISM

Abstract

Th e process of dissolution of the functional structure begins with Wagner’s music. For dissonance is not resolved, the center remains uncertain, especially when each accord is ambiguous in terms of functionality. Altered chords with functional polyvalence and frequent modulations weaken the impression of tonal unity. Incursions at diff erent levels and frequent tonal modulations considerably weaken the tone organization. Thus, Expressionism appears.
