Colonialismo, racismo e a demonização do corpo negro uma possível leitura do conto O Diário de Manua, de Ungulani Ba Ka Khossa

Abstract

Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa is one of the most prestigious Mozambican writers, and his first book Ualalapi(1987) is considered one of the one hundred best African books. The writer revisits the documented past of Mozambique, based on memories and traditional stories. His texts can be understood as retellings of these historical facts, mostly against the official versions. The present article intends to highlight the discussions on racism and the demonization of Africans present in the short story, besides bringing up situations experienced by these people during the Portuguese colonization. The study will be carried out through a critical and comparative analysis of the literary text. We see that Khosa represents through the analyzed text the destructive power of violence suffered by Africans, not only during colonization but also in the first attempts to establish a certain diplomacy. The contributions of Cabaço (2009), Fanon (2008) and Mbembe (2018) will serve as the theoretical-critical scope of the analysis.
