Media authorities – encounter or support (?) of real figures

Abstract

Authority shall be accompanied by humanity since the dawn of time. It is the one of the pillars of social life and prerequisite for the success of any of the activities, especially in the upbringing and education. Currently, there is a discussion on “contemporary authority”. In times of far-reaching social changes its role has been changing too. More and more often the issue of collapse of social authorities is discussed. The traditional authorities: parents, teachers or the outstanding personalities of public space shall be replaced by the so-called idols, whose period in our country is experiencing full growth. The article is an attempt to expose the essence of the phenomenon of mediatization of life when increasingly traditional authorities are replacing by “authorities – media idols”. The purpose of such theoretical considerations and empirical knowledge was the essence of the role of media authority in the lives of today’s youth and matching it with the role of the real authority.
