Aspects of Changing and Improving Music Education of Future Preschool Teachers

This paper is on the qualitative research procedure, which had the aim of studying aspects of possible changes and additions to syllabi of musical subjects at the Higher Vocational School for Educating Pre-School Teachers in Novi Sad. Apart from the intention to practically increase practical application of the adopted knowledge and gained knowledge of students, this research is about the verification of the attempts of careful choice o contents of musical subjects to be studied for the purpose of widening cultural horizons of the students, future pre-school teachers. Nevertheless, there was the need to check whether there was positive perception of students themselves about the significance of musical skills for their vocation, i.e. done changes in the syllabi of musical subjects. It was significant to check in which extent students perceived engagement and approach of very teachers as significant, stimulating factor in adopting musical skills. Action research was performed in the sample of fifty students of Higher Vocational School for Educating Pre-School Teachers in Novi Sad, and the technique of questionnaire and contents analysis was performed. The results show that most students consider musical subjects significant for their vocation, whereas changes in the syllabus are perceived positively because of the improved praxis. Most of the students see the role of the teachers as the key one, firstly in revealing own musical capacities, and then in mastering musical skills and revealing the significance of music for work with children.
