China has woken up and the world is shaking to its rhythm. China's dazzling entry into the restricted circle of countries that are shaking the world is accompanied by a revitalisation of Sino-African relations. These relations are making headlines and sparking passionate debate. People are asking questions about the nature, the games, the stakes, the threats and the opportunities of this cooperation. In an approach that is at once explanatory, descriptive, comparative and analytical, this article draws on oral sources, written sources, digital sources and iconographic sources to demonstrate that Sino-African cooperation create fears, glimmers of light and lures, while positioning Chinese power as an opportunity that sub-Saharan Africa must capitalise on for its development, emancipation and international affirmation.
