This study aims to examine the Environmental Education Public Program named “School at Mangroves” developed in the municipality of Aracruz in Espírito Santo State. The environmental sustainability of the mangroves is critically endangered due to various impacts caused by anthropic activities. Therefore, some attitudes are required to prevent the increasing degradation of this ecosystem. Such attitudes foster the development of environmental education that contributes to the formation of conscious critical citizens, in order to build a fairer and more social and environmentally sustainable society. Using methodological tools, we confirm that environmental education is a tool for the conservation of the Mangroves of Piraquê-açu and Piraquê-mirim Rivers.
