The article contains an analysis of the research and theoretical interpretations of changes of families and intimate life in the process of globalization. Presents ways of defining and studying globalization with their inherent problems and contradictions. Contemporary discussions on the impact of globalization on the transformation of the family contain many of the difficulties and contradictions present in the globalization discourse. In this context discussed ways of understanding family and intimacy in the process of globalization from the theory of modernization point of view. A fruitful research attempt to overcome the difficulties associated with the theory of modernization (postmodernization) is the concept of world families and distant love. Understood in this way, the globalization of the family and intimacy shows the process of creating a global space of family and intimate life and links it with the development of technology and the compression of the world and the intensification of consciousness of the world as a whole.
