Ambiguity operationalize the concept of «religion» as one of the problems of sociology of religion

The article is devoted to the analysis of the theoretical and methodological approaches to the terminological explanation and correlation of the concept of «religiosity», to define the structural components, indexes and criteria of the «religiosity» and research problems relative to the above­mentioned theoretical and empirical levels. Based on a review of existing scientific approaches in the classical sociology of religion, structural functionalism, psychoanalysis, behaviorism, modern theories of rational choice, privatization and globalization of religion and other defined, that at the moment there is no holistic view of religion in religious studies as a multidimensional spiritual phenomenon, as an element of overall socio­cultural system, not developed generally accepted system of criteria of religiousness, not enough operationalization some of them, that that can be done an according and complement the existing scientific approaches and trends to the study of religiosity, the achievements of theoretical and practical science of religion, sociology of religion. The conclusion. Religiousness is an individual or collective quality, the manifestation of religion in the individual or collective consciousness and life, a certain emotional, mental condition of some individuals, groups or communities, characteristic feature of which is the belief in the supernatural and performance of a religious cult.
