THE ANALISYS OF NARRATIVE AND SYMBOLIC STRUCTURES IN BOOK GRAPHICS IN THE MOLDOVAN SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLIC IN THE PERIOD OF SOCIALIST REALISM (1945-1953)

Abstract

In the process of transition to socialist realism, the fine art of the ‘40s, including graphics, was characterized by documentalism and illustrativism in various thematic approaches to everyday life. Studying documentary materials, we propose a grid based on three categories of analysis of the narrative and symbolic aspects in Moldovan book graphics of the post-war period: 1) according to the genres and literary subjects, 2) according to the genres used in easel graphics (portrait, landscape, still life, genre composition, decorative composition, ornaments or decorations), 3) according to the graphics technique, compositional principles, methods and means of expression of each author individually. Within a literary or graphics opera all of them still fall in correlations and interferences.
