The different nationalisms that emerged in Europe around the mid 19th century had also their reflection in the art and architecture of the moment, thus, arising the need of finding a style that could be considered “national”, that is, unique and country specific. In Spain, the Mudejar style stood up, but other options existed as well, as the Plateresque or Hispanic-Flamenco styles, the latter one specially vindicated in Arturo Melida’s work.
