Quinoline: A versatile bioactive scaffold and its molecular hybridization
Abstract
Quinolines have become essential to many drugs, including broad-spectrum antibiotics, antivirus, antitubercular, and antimalarial agents. Owing to their importance in medicinal and pharmaceutic industries, several studies have been conducted to synthesize new and novel quinoline derivatives and their hybrid compounds with potent biological applications. In this review, we report the recent research involved in the search for biologically active molecules containing quinoline moiety, including their hybrids. The review provides information on advancements in the last ten years in the chemistry of hybrids and derivatives of quinolines. Also, the medicinal impact of some potent patents based on quinoline derivatives is discussed.
