Dwie współoprawne postylle Johanna Rassera o proweniencji z biblioteki opactwa kanoników regularnych w Żaganiu
Abstract
The subject of the study is the morphological and semiotic analysis of two sixteenth-century Catholic postures published in Dillingen, coming from the library of the convent of regular Lateran canons in Żagań. The presentation of the prints is justified by the turbulent fate of the congregation, its dissolution, liquidation of the library and scattering of the collections recorded in this valuable library, as well as the rarity of the title, not mentioned in any national public library. It is known from several pieces outside the country. The content and the selection of iconography with a strong counter-Reformation overtone lead to the conclusion that the acquisition of the postils was dictated by events in the history of the monastery and the city community. They were used to enrich the theological argumentation of the monks for the recovery of the church lost due to the disturbance of the social order caused by the Reformation. Some of the woodcuts from Rasser's postures were borrowed to illustrate the Oeconomics by Jakub Haur.
