Excavations on the Uhle platform at Moche, near Trujillo, northern Peru deal with a ceremonial and funerary complex of the Moche culture, at the foot of one of the two highest monuments of the site, the Huaca de la Luna or Moon Pyramid. This is a slightly raised and enclosed space within which, during a first period, were performed rituals that did not leave any material evidence. During a second period, graves of the Moche elite were placed on the platform as well as an empty space right at the foot of the pyramid. Remains of human sacrifices have also been observed.
