Abstract
Members of the state administration for the environment should nowadays duty to result and to score a great amount of information about air pollution. This is possible by using information technologies and systems working with spatial data. Between these systems belongs the GIS. By means of the GIS, emissions were monitored in the Košice agglomeration and the balance of them was made. By presenting the data in a map it is possible to visualize a spatial distribution, relations and tendencie unseen in tables. The application of the programme ArcView was showed as a suitable apparatus for accumulating and saving information not only in the monitoring of air quality but other elements of the environment too.
