Development Potential of the Activities of the Cultural and Leisure Centres in Modern Urbanistic Space

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to determine the development potential of cultural and leisure centres in the urbanistic space of the twenty-first century. Research methodology. Scientific positions of the research are argued at the level of a set of general scientific methods of cognition (analytical, source-historical, historical) and culturological approaches. Results. Flexible organizational and functional model of cultural and leisure centres involves the use of specific technologies, aimed at rapid changes of some aspects of activities, in accordance with the trends of cultural policy. The carried out cultural analysis of the concepts of the activities of modern cultural and leisure centres in the urbanistic environment confirms that the expansion and updating of models and technologies of each particular institution is an important and inalienable development process that corresponds to their primary principle that reflects the genesis of socio-cultural activities of citizens. The existing concepts of cultural and leisure centres have prospects for further development in the urbanistic space of the 21st century. Novelty. Characteristic features and priority tasks of modern cultural and leisure centres are revealed; the concept “cultural and leisure centre” is highlighted and supplemented in the context of the specific character of the activities of this institution under the conditions of the urbanistic space; promising trends and methods of the development potential of the activities of cultural and leisure centres of the 21st century are revealed. The practical significance. The material in this article may be used in developing lectures by specialists in cultural studies.
