The teaching of reading comprehension in a foreign language has come through the most diverse approaches and methods, without overcoming students’ main difficulties in understanding. Consequently, it is necessary to find new roads to guarantee students´ understanding of what they are reading, so as to analyze it, construct and re-construct new texts from it, and during this process, develop the competences for their interaction with the text and its sociocultural context, for decoding and re-constructing the text. The booklet “Reading for growing” offers didactic possibilities to guide the students toward an efficient and productive process of reading in the foreign language, which provides new opportunities for the students to add meaning and sense to their lives.
