Electromagnetic radiation effects on the security of information transmission and processing

Abstract

All electronic devices are exposed to different electronic effects during their use but they alone generate EM energy as well and produce effects on surrounding devices. In order to determine the limits of this mutual influence, the standards which regulate permissible tolerance radiation levels are prescribed, i.e. the sensitivity of particular devices to electromagnetic radiation is defined. Beside this harmfulness during the functioning of electronic devices (especially computers and telecommunication devices) there is a danger of leakage of data (information) processed by a computer or transmitted by a telecommunication system. This danger especially concerns telecommunication and computer systems which transmit and process classified data and information.
