Environmental education: relationship between scientific production, national polices and evolution of environmental awareness at UFSM

The objective was to relate the scientific production in the last fifteen years with the development of national and environmental awareness policies in UFSM. Magazines were selected from the field of Education and Teaching, in which was observed how many times the words: environment, environmental, soil, air, water, pollution, forests, fauna, flora, greenhouse effect and waste were cited as main subject in each journal. Also was evaluated the evolution of environmental awareness through a questionnaire involving students of different courses of University Federal Santa Maria. The results show that scientific production has a direct relationship with the growth of national policies and also that the evolution.
