Laparoscopy in elderly women
Abstract
The elderly population has become an increasingly large part of the total population, and this group hasshown higher rates of comorbid diseases. A review of the literature supports the belief that advanced age doesnot seem to be a contraindication for conventional or laparoscopic surgery. However, considering the high comorbidityof elderly patients, conducting an overall risk assessment and an adequate hemodynamic monitoringis highly recommended.
