La gestion de la crise des farines animales en France (2000-2009) dans le contexte de l’Encéphalopathie Spongiforme Bovine (ESB) : temporalités, acteurs et niveaux d’action

Abstract

Temporality analysis in crisis studies use to oppose frameworks based on events (a set of chronological dates) or on ‘moments of change’ (bifurcation, resilience…). The role of the actors involved in crises are often neglected in such studies. However, their practices matter for understanding crisis. Focusing on these practices allow us to better understand the types of responses that occurred in a context characterized by high levels of uncertainty. This paper focuses on the feed-bone meal crisis management of the early 2000’s in France. It highlights both the temporality of the crisis and the ways levels of action were combined in order to face the crisis. This work combines archives and interview data that are treated with social network analysis tools.
