In order to explore the regulatory mechanism of tetralin (THN) on the reactivity of volatiles in the pyrolysis and thermal field during pyrolysis of Naomaohu coal, a two-stage fixed-bed reactor was used. Two research schemes (A and B) were designed to introduce THN into the first-stage and second-stage reactors to compare and analyze the difference in the reactivity of volatiles between two stages and its influences on product distributions and coking behaviors. The results show that under the two schemes, THN tiad significant regulation effects on the volatiles' reactivity, effectively achieving the role of increasing oil and reducing water. Compared with that in scheme B, this effect is more significant in scheme A in the thermo-field temperature ranges of 400~550 ℃, which contributes to capturing the intermediates of oxygen-containing radical with stronger reactivity in volatiles system and reducing the reactivity of volatiles migrating to the reaction stage. At higher thermo-field temperatures, the residence time is increased for THN not involved in reaction and its transformation products, which mix with reactive volatiles, resulting in a significant decrease in the increment of liquid products and a promoted formation of aromatic hydrocarbons with 2~5 rings and coke.
