The city of Recife in the 1920s accompanied the dissemination in newspapers and magazines of ways and models to be followed by men and women. However, the 1920s the causedto a profound transformation in the way women and men behaved and/or acquired new customs. While men sought to secure their status as head of household, the women gradually assumed a role of independence in relation to the dominant customs. Now theyoccupied workspaces and left, in some cases, the home and childcare for men. The objectives of this articles to present how much the newspapers and magazines of Recife buit models of women from the writing of men, who occupied their editorial.
