The tango of cocaine

Abstract

After a brief historical context, the authors discussed the relevance of cocaine consumption in Barcelona in the second decade of the 20th century and how this influence was reflected in popular music, especially in tango, which was heard in theaters. Below are some examples in famous or relevant lyrics. Finally, the low impact that this popular culture had on preventing the second epidemic of cocaine use that began at the end of the 20th century and the mediatization of the media was discussed.
