In this paper, the alumina reinforced fiber was added into the phosphate - based electrofused magnesia coating to explore its effect on the performance of the coating. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X - ray diffractometer (XRD) were used to study the phase composition, porosity, thermal shock resistance and adhesion properties of the coating. Results showed that alumina reinforced fibers could prevent the expansion of micro - cracks in the coating, reduce the pore diameter and improve the porosity and uniformity. Compared with the case of no such fibers, when the content of fibers was 1.6%, the thermal shock resistance of the coating increased by 76%. However, as the content of aluminum reinforcing fibers increased, the residual stress of the coating also increased, and the adhesion performance of the coating decreased continuously.
