Das Fragment des englischen Tagebuches von Alexander von Humboldt

Abstract

Article in german, abstracts in english and germanAlexander von Humboldt’s journal, which he kept in 1790 during his journey with Georg Forster to England, is presented in this paper for the first time. So far this document had been considered to be lost. Humboldt’s journal has turned out to be a mere collection of scientific data rather than a chronological record of the journey. Forster’s extensive notes helped to put Humboldt’s data in a chronological order. In works, which Humboldt published later, he often referred to these data.
