Psychological variables related to the choice of sports tasks with different level of difficulty.considerations for the design of programsmotivationals of psychological training in the sport

This study analyze the relationship between a set of psychological variables (general sport motivation, perception of ability, and goal orientation) and the athletes preference for different level of difficulty tasks. Results show that ego goal orientation is the best predictor of preference for easy sport tasks and that task orientation predict the preference for high level of difficulty tasks. The implications of this findings in the design of motivational sport interventions are discussed. KEY WORDS: Preference for different level of difficulty tasks, goal orientation .
