The role of education in the field of shaping public awareness in the event of terrorist threats.

Abstract

Objectives The aim of the article is to indicate the essence and role of education in the field of terrorist prevention in the modern world. It seems important to develop a comprehensive preventive system, which will be implemented through formal, informal, incidental and self-education. Material and methods Research has been designed to assess the state of knowledge and awareness of the society on anti-terrorist education. The hypothesis assumes that this education is necessary and is the most effective form of counteracting threats. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire. The questionnaire covers two categories of questions: knowledge and skills checks in relation to the logarithms of conduct. It was also important to check the sources and methods of obtaining knowledge. Results The results of the research are the starting point for considering the concept of a comprehensive education system for security in Poland, one of the most important elements of which will be terrorist prevention. The results indicate that the level of knowledge on terrorist prevention is at a high level, while the skills require designing a training system and further education. Conclusions The analysis of the literature, available research and the presented research results indicate the need to take measures in anti-terrorist education, which is the most effective form of counteracting threats. The effectiveness of this terrorist threat education depends on a systemic approach. It is important to introduce these issues into the education process earlier and to continue throughout the entire period of education. It must include adults who are already outside the school education process.
