A review of the most needed knowledge for beginners in the area of using textile reinforced mortars for concrete strengthening
Abstract
Abstract The use of textile-reinforced mortar (TRM) systems in the construction industry has increased significantly in recent years, accompanied by extensive research efforts. Numerous studies have explored TRM systems, yielding various findings. However, a comprehensive review of these studies is necessary to broaden the understanding and evaluation of TRM systems. This manuscript aims to review the most important and recent research on the mechanical properties and flexural strengthening capabilities of TRM systems. The review seeks to consolidate existing knowledge and provide newcomers with a thorough understanding of key factors influencing TRM performance. Findings indicate that TRM systems are an effective alternative to fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) systems. The review also offers recommendations for mortar composition and proposes modifications to bond testing methods. The manuscript concludes with suggestions for future research directions.
