«To Look For Truth For Beaten» (A. Solzhenitsyn and V. Shalamov in Russian Literature of the ХX Century)

Abstract

The article discusses the GULAG prose of A. Solzhenitsyn and V. Shalamov, coмparеs «One day of Ivan Denisovich» and «The Kolyma tales», determines the place and role of the writers in Russian literature of the second half of the XXth century. The analysis shows that different influence of Solzhenitsyn and Shalamov on the development in Russian prose of the XXth century relates to the type of main character that writers put into the center of their work. The hero of the “middle” and “mass” in one case opposed to the hero “on the verge” in another case.
