Towards a 5G Communication Architecture for the Internet of Musical Things

Abstract

The Internet of Musical Things (IoMusT) is forcefully emerging as a novel embodiment of the general Internet of Things paradigm. A fundamental enabler of its widespread adoption is represented by the telecommunication infrastructure, in particular on wireless cellular networks. However, the extreme requirements of the IoMusT are quite challenging to be met by the current technology generation, thus putting a lot of expectations on the upcoming fifth-generation (5G) of cellular systems. In this paper, we outline for the first time a communication architecture for the emerging paradigm of the IoMusT based on the 5G framework.
