An Introduction to the Historical Components of the Qur'an
Abstract
The Qur'an, as the holy book of Muslims, has provided numerous recommendations for the salvation of man and his happiness in this world and the hereafter. One of these advices is to learn from the history of the past and reflect on their fate. In this regard, the Qur'an, like other historical books, describes their fate by expression of developments that took place in the lives of the previous nations and by reminding them of their deeds, he calls on human beings to walk in the path of truth and righteousness and to avoid moving in the path of oppression and darkness. Reflection on the historical verses of the Holy Qur'an indicates a special kind of historiography, which differs in insight and method from other approaches and genres of historiography. Therefore, the main research question is related to the frameworks and components of historiography in the Qur'an. In order to answer this question, an attempt has been made to critique the narration of history in the Qur'an, to identify its methodological methods, and to explain the insight that governs those methods. The Holy Quran seems to have a special approach to the representation of history in insight, method and literature, which is based on several basic principles. Among the components of historiographical methodology in the Qur'an, the following can be mentioned: utilizing human self-based intellect to understand the wisdom hidden in historical verses, study of the history of the ancients with a civilized approach to acquire historical knowledge, learning lessons and achieving happiness and finally, going through the apparent procedure of stories and their details and paying attention to the principle and reality of historical events to understand the fixed divine traditions. The method of the present study is descriptive-explanatory and based on reflection on historical verses of the Qur'an and critique of their methodology in representing events.
