Abstract

Dear Readers. Dear Readers, After supporting us for over 30 years, the Belgian Directorate General for Development Cooperation (DGD) has decided to drastically reduce its contribution towards the publication of this year's Tropicultura (2012) and will be withdrawing its support altogether from 2013. This decision is linked to the DGD's plans to restructure and increase the effectiveness of all its activities. For this reason, the DGD no longer wishes to fund future initiatives that do not represent a sufficient critical mass. Unfortunately, the Tropicultura publication falls within this category. This decision, which we greatly regret, therefore has nothing to do with the scientific quality of our magazine. In order to cope with this reduced budget, we have decided to cease publishing and sending paper copies starting from No. 30-2. We still hope to identify a solution, however, in order to continue publishing Tropicultura after 2013. The edition that you have before you is therefore the last that you will receive in the post. All subsequent editions will be accessible directly on the magazine's website via the link: http://www.tropicultura.org/content/ Of course, we will keep you informed of how the situation develops. At the same time, I would like to reassure the relevant authors that all articles submitted to the magazine will be prepared for publication.
