The following text reports certain passages from two separate interviews, at the home of Jean-Gérard Bosio. The first was conducted by Coline Desportes in February 2018, while the second was conducted by Claire Riffard in January 2024. J.-G. Bosio, a cultural, artistic and diplomatic adviser, talks about Senghor’s compartmentalised mind, his taste for order but also for encounters, and his writing practices. He describes the genesis of “Élégie pour Georges Pompidou”, the collaboration with André Manessier on “Élégie pour Martin Luther King” and the arrival of Gérard Chenet in Senegal. A man of emotion, a man of faith, Senghor was also surrounded by “inner glacis” and inhabited by the presence of death.
