ABSTRACT: This paper aims at the analysis of the South African novel Disgrace (1999), translated into Portuguese as Desonra (2000) by Jos Rubens Siqueira published by Companhia das Letras. The novel deals with the post-colonial world marked by injustices of apartheid and reveals new social relations, marked by a reversal of the power formerly belonging to minority white European descendant. The analysis will be performed based on the concepts of Cultural Identity, Otherness and Resistance proposed by Homi Bhabha (2003), Stuart Hall (2002), Bosi (2004) and Thomas Bonicci (2009).
