Concurrent engineering strategy is one of the most fundamental parameters in industrial development. Designers are not only confronted with the complexity of the design process, but in order to improve the economic production and maintain the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry, it is necessary to design, construct, and test processes performed concurrently and not intermittent. To implement the concurrent engineering model, one of the most basic requirements is to understand the current and present state in order to calculate the gap between the current and the desired state of the future for the implementation of concurrent engineering. In this paper, using the standard factors defined for the concurrent engineering model, the existing gap has been calculated and the solutions needed to reduce the gap have explained. The evaluation of the status of each of the factors was done by using a distributed questionnaires between the maritime companies and especially the shipyard. According to the results of the survey, the answers to the questionnaires and calculations were done; the greatest gap is related to cultural factors that need to be reduced by using some exercises and techniques in the pilot projects.
