La traduction comme voyage dans l’altérité socioculturelle de l’original

Abstract

Translation as a journey into the sociocultural otherness of the original text. Faced to the cultural specificity of the source text, the translator builds his own strategy where he combines various translation methods - direct transfer, neutralization, adaptation – in order to transmit the cultural specificity of the original into the target text. Thus, the reader is offered a reading itinerary which guides him through the specific universe of the source text. In our contribution we propose to notice the strategies that the translator choses in order to help his reader to mentally rebuild the cultural framework of the original text.
