To assess the optimisation impact on the trajectory towards sustainable Computed Tomography (CT) imaging practices, technical parameters, and volume computed tomography dose index (CTDIvol) were collected for abdominal pain and diverticulitis/appendicitis clinical indications at Salamniya Medical Complex before and after optimisation of imaging protocol. Post-optimisation evaluation revealed a significant reduction in CTDIvol, accompanied by a total reduction of 100 kg in carbon dioxide equivalent emissions and an annual cost savings of 20 $. These changes positively influence social, environmental, and economic pillars of sustainability, respectively. The long-term optimisation across multiple hospitals will support the transition towards sustainable CT imaging practices in Bahrain.
