Metropolitan poverty: situation in Costa Rica between 2000-2011

The investigation of poverty in the Main Metropolitan Area (MMA) of Costa Rica is based on the influence that this said region posess and the tendencies maintained. The purpose of this article in learn the progress, regression, or stability in human development terms in said region.The methodology is based on the Human Development Index (HDI) proposed by the Program of the United Nations for Development and the University of Costa Rica and from this index poverty goes into detail with the methodology of the Unsatisfied Basic Needs (UBN) proposed by Solorzano (2011) where four needs are considered; the access to a worthy shelter (housing), access to a healthy lifestyle (Health), access to knowledge (education) and access to other goods and services (rent). The Results revealed by the methodology of the HDI show that the human development of the MMA is enviable and the methodology on the NBI shows that the quantity oh homes with shortages has decreased considerably from the years 2000 - 2011.
