The development of Ukrainian medical science and, in particular, neurosurgery is inextricably linked with the name and documentary heritage of world-class scientist Andrii Petrovych Romodanov.November 11, 2020 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding neurosurgeon, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Hero of Socialist Labor, winner of the State Prize and the Burdenko prize, honored scientist of the Ukrainian SSR Andrii Petrovych Romodanov.A well-known scientist, organizer and public figure, having started his career in medicine as a military surgeon, Academician Romodanov enriched national neurosurgery with his clinical work and scientific achievements and made a significant contribution to its development. His name is associated with new research in the field of diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the nervous system, in particular malignant tumors, vascular diseases and brain injuries. In addition to new developments in the field of neurosurgery, he conducted fundamental research in vascular neurosurgery, in the priority areas of endovascular surgery.Scientific heritage of A.P. Romodanov accounts for more than 450 publications, including 25 monographs and 23 author’s certificates.For the multifaceted and fruitful work, A.P. Romodanov was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor, awarded 10 orders and 15 medals, including 4 military orders and 5 medals.
