SUGAR CULTURES IN PERNAMBUCO
Abstract
There is a consensus that the Northeast of Brazil has produced a culture tied to the production of sugar. This article emphasizes the necessity of understanding this culture from a perspective other than the one linked to the “Casa Grande,” in order to understand that cultural production in the sugar cane zone is the result of social tensions between the social classes.
