A quem cabe educar? Notas sobre as relações entre a esfera pública e a privada nos debates educacionais dos anos de 1920-1930
Abstract
With reference to the current educational debates in the Brazilian society during the years 1920-1930, the article intends to analyze some nuances concerning the comprehension of the capacities of the different agents exercising the educational function. Focalizing the movement of New Education and the movement of catholic renovation, based on the discourses of intellectuals representing the two tendencies, different procedures of conceiving the role of the public sphere – represented by the State/public school – and the role of the private sphere – represented by the family – in the education of the individuals and in the configuration of the Brazilian society, as well as the connections between those spheres, are being examined.
