The final demarcation of the political borders between Qatar and Bahrain and the future of the relationship between them
Abstract
The border issue between Qatar and Bahrain is considered one of the most important border issues in the Gulf region, as the borders between the two countries were affected by the British decisions issued in the years 1939 and 1944 regarding the ownership of the Hawar Islands group and the visitation area, and the demarcation of the maritime borders between them in 1947, according to which the ownership of the islands in the maritime area between the two countries was determined. The decisions are the objections of Qatar and Bahrain, to show the border claims by the two sides, which were based on different foundations, the most prominent of which were the problems of geographical proximity and historical claims. The treaties drawn up by the colonial countries had a role in activating the border problems between the two countries, as well as allegations of the exercise of sovereignty and tribal loyalty.
