The transition from traditional cylindrical discharge geometry to the coaxial one (where the discharge plasma is located in a gap between two coaxially placed cylindrical tubes) has been theoretically investigated for positive column of electronegative middle pressure glow discharge in the mixture of chlorine and inert gases. Here a new mechanism of electron losses appears – the diffusional elimination onto the inner wall. It is shown that discharge existence is only possible by sufficient increasing of the ionization rate and hence the electron temperature as well; the last will cause growth of the specific power of discharge ultraviolet radiation. The analytical expressions for estimations of electron temperature of said discharge plasma in coaxial geometry are derived.
