Abstract

Background. Today, in the context of turbulent changes in the international are-na, a new system of world order is being formed. In the context of ongoing transformations, world leaders are making attempts to seize a large number of resources and expand their sphere of influence. In the modern period, Russia is in an extremely difficult situation, due to the growth of military threats, sanctions pressure, the undermining of diplomatic ties with a number of unfriendly countries; the information war continues with the stuffing of fake information from banned media. These conditions significantly affect the conduct of our country's foreign policy course, the attitude of Russians, including the younger genera-tion, to it, determining the parameters of interest in the foreign policy sphere. The purpose of the study is to analyze the level of interest of modern youth in foreign policy, the choice of information sources regarding foreign policy events. Materials and methods. The study is based on a secondary analysis of data from the Public Opinion Foundation, the Federal Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the results of author's research conducted among the youth of Penza universities (2023, 2024) and the youth of the Penza, Saratov and Tyumen regions (2024). Results. Current data on the foreign policy orienta-tions of Russian youth were obtained, the level of youth interest in the political sphere was analyzed, as well as the specifics of obtaining political information and choosing sources. According to the study, the majority of young people trust the current government and sup-port the ongoing foreign policy course. Russian youth are following political events with interest, especially the building of relations between Russia and other states. Conclusions. Among various social groups, students show more interest in political events in Russia and the world. The leading positions among the sources of information for young people are occupied by the data presented on the Internet.
