Artisan ou artiste ? La carrière de Pierre Eskrich, brodeur, peintre et graveur, dans les milieux humanistes de Lyon et Genève (ca 1550-1580)

Abstract

Pierre Eskrich, a master embroiderer who was converted to the reformed religion, was very close in the humanist circles and in the world of the printers in Lyon, before settling down in Geneva. He realizes very numerous engravings, Protestants but also Catholics, with an artistic concern and a taste for the sciences that were unusual in the time.
