Investigation of Knowledge, Attitude, Practice, and Affecting Factors of Health Sciences Students on COVID-19
Abstract
Aim: This research examined the knowledge, attitudes, practices, and influencing factors of faculty of health sciences students towards COVID-19. Method: The research has a descriptive and cross-sectional design conducted online in January-February 2021. The study sample consisted of 588 students studying at the faculty of health sciences that agreed to participate in the research. The data were collected with the Information Form prepared by the researchers. Data were evaluated using descriptive statistical methods, independent groups t-test, and the Anova test. Results: It was determined that 32.1% of the participants studied in the Nursing Department, 96.4% complied with the precautions, and 98.6% applied the hand hygiene, social distance, and surgical mask rules to protect from COVID-19. Statistically significant difference was found in knowledge levels of nursing department students (F=3.023; p<0.05), females (F=7.309; p<0.01), fourth-year students (F=16.014; p<0.001), and intern students (t=4.132; p<0,001). Conclusion: The study's findings showed that the level of knowledge students have about COVID-19 is above average, and they have a positive attitude towards compliance with the measures.
