The initial paper under the same title was read at the International conference Composer and his Environment (Композитор и његово окружење) organized by the Musicological Institute of SASA held in Belgrade in November 9-11, 2006. The text was dedicated to the Serbs as foreign music composition students, focused on their studies at Moscow, Prague, “The European Conservatory”, and also taking into account Vienna Conservatory. The Serbian composition students who were studied at the various European universities can be divided into two groups. The first one is embracing the individuals born in the XIX century, who were concentrated, mostly romantically, on the idea of national style based on the local folk music heredity. The second group covers the later, younger generation of students who were born after 1900 and were primarily educated at Prague Conservatory, interested mainly in New Viennese School and avantgarde achievements of composers in Czech lands. In this paper the author is focused on the first group, referring to it as a whole. This present paper is also refreshed with some actual facts and new bibliography.
