Les aléas et les adaptations logistiques de la navigation rhénane face au changement climatique
Abstract
Major hydrological hazards always punctuated the Rhine’s history. Their frequencies and amplitude are becoming a major concern to public authorities, residents, and riparian industries. River navigation, which has been an essential tool of industrial development in the Rhine basin, is particularly affected by such a development. Hydrological experts consider it as consequence of global warming, which is likely to increase in the near future. The question is then how to accompany and possibly prevent the changes in the Rhine regime in short and medium term. What will be the new conditions of navigability and what answers should be addressed from a technical (hydrological developments) and managerial (fleet structure, modal alternatives) point of view?
