This article aims to analyze the relationship between family and school at the José de França Municipal Elementary School, in Cuité de Mamanguape city in Paraíba. This is a case study with a qualitative approach. The research’s subjects were the professors who worked at the institution in 2020. The instrument for data collection was the questionnaire. The motivation to study this theme arose from provocations from discussions in the research groups in which the authors participate. Rural school education lacks the active participation of the family, in order to collaborate with professionals, from the elaboration to the execution of the pedagogical proposal. It was found that the relationship between family and school is characterized by low participation, influenced, in part, by factors such as precarious financial conditions and families low schooling and the lack of the School's Political Pedagogical Project (PPP).
