Active Experiment with a Rocket-Borne High Power Electron Gun (c. Wave-Particle Interactions in the Magnetosphere) (Proceedings of the Second Symposium on Coordinated Observations of the Ionosphere and Magnetosphere in the Polar Regions : Part I)
Abstract
High power electron beam experiments have been performed by sounding rockets, and the spacecraft charging due to beam emission has been investigated. The charging effect was found to be considerably depressed by the extra ionization effect around the spacecraft due to collisions between the high power electron beam and the neutral gas
